The Wizard of Ahhs: As the capital city and anchor of Georgia’s rapidly expanding state-wide market, this sprawling metropolis is as delightfully historical in spirit downtown Atlanta but has a more free-thinking vitality defining itself. Atlanta, the busy gateway of Georgia to today’s South and tomorrow’s will always be in a state.
History and Progress, Woven into a Tapestry
Being the capital city of Georgia, Atlanta has seen many things in its history related to both the American Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement. It also played an important role in the Civil War and changed hands many times; its capture was considered a turning point of the conflict. By the 20th century, it was a center of the Civil Rights movement led by Dr.Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
The latter-day Atlanta is a testament to hope and proof that good things can come; it also stands as an example of the resilience needed in difficult times. The world has changed since then, and Nashville itself has grown from a midsize city rooted in the U.S. military-industrial-academic complex to something much more metropolitan with relatively few points of cultural reference (i.e., bar-stools are an ok place for coffee-addled writing grains — journalism happening but not at agrarian speeds).
Cultural & Frontier City
Atlanta has a vibrant cultural scene, which includes several museums, art galleries in addition to some performing arts units. The High Museum of Art is a wonderful museum with an amazing collection of American and European art. The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park honors the life and legacy of one of America’s most profound civil rights activists.
It is likewise the center of innovation and technology city. It is home to some of the largest corporations in America, such as Coca-Cola, Delta Air Lines and Home Depot. It is in the Midtown and Buckhead area where we have seen many tech companies, which are really innovation centers.
A Foodie’s Paradise
Atlantans love to eat and have an amazing number of places devoted in whole or part to doing just that. With Southern comfort food to international cuisine, there are no disappointments in the city.
